Fantastic Event Through Collaboration!

UPM Biomedicals and CSEM organized TEDD-visit event in collaboration on May 7, 2024.

The day's program featured presentations by event organizers, invited speakers, and our own speakers. The speeches provided timely information on interesting topics.

  • Animal-Free Strategies for 3D Culture in Drug Discovery and Life Science Applications, Essi Niemi, UPM
  • Tumor Organoids in Liver Cancer Drug Discovery: The New Frontier, Dr. Sandro Nuciforo, University of Basel
  • Enabling technologies empowering innovation in tissue engineering and cell assays – from organoids to single cells, Dr. Stéphanie Boder-Pasche, CSEM
  • Navigating Standardization and Automation in Cell Biology: Balancing Versality and Customization, Dr. Nadine Thaler, Hamilton

After the lectures, we had a networking lunch and coffee where everyone had the opportunity to engage in discussions about the lecture topics, ask questions, and chat about shared interests with others. Participants, speakers, and event organizers alike participated in the lively discussions.

While the pleasant chatter continued over coffee, it was time for the participants to attend guided tours where they had the opportunity to learn about the activities of the organizing parties. Additionally, guided tours included a visit to our event venue, the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area Main Campus.

After the tours, we gathered once more in the lobby area of Switzerland Innovation Park to wrap up the event with thunderous applause, equally shared among everyone. And despite the slightly gray sky and light rain outside, everyone seemed genuinely satisfied, and the day was a success. Thank you all!

Organizing Parties

CSEM is a Swiss technology innovation center that develops advanced technologies with a significant societal impact, which are then transferred to industry to bolster the economy. This non-profit, public-private organization is internationally recognized and supports disruptive activities of companies in Switzerland and abroad.

The TEDD-visit events are supported by the TEDD Competence Centre - Tissue Engineering for Drug Development and Substance Testing. It serves as an education, R&D, and networking platform, promoting the application of 3D organotypic technologies for therapy development, with the core objective of replacing animal experimentation in the long term according to the 3Rs principle (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement).

The event took place at the beautiful Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, which is a part of Switzerland Innovation's network of science parks.
